Love, I do...
This is the starting point of this blog. The imagery I created here lives in my mind rent-free. This is the epitome of the girl in gloves brand. It's bold, over the top and quirky. There's all the elements that are essential to me and my outfits: color, volume, altered proportions and, of course, gloves! No bag is needed where she's going (she might not be going anywhere at all).
I would like to make an honorable mention to the pantyhose for bringing a small dose of humor to the mix. I think that's very much needed, because It ties the look together, but it's also unexpected, drawing a fine line between elegant and tacky. I think that's usually where I stand. I try to have fun with fashion as much as I can, because In order to have good taste you must experience having bad taste, you know what I mean? Roses are red... And so are leopards, apparently!
For me, what makes it special is that it looks simple at first glance, like you can't tell it was very thought out on a first impression. I once heard "simplicity is complexity solved", and sometimes that's my goal. Something that I often try to reach as well is dichotomy. I feel like in this case, there's a perfect encounter between minimalism and maximalism, don't you agree? It's too much, but at the same time it's just enough.
I also love how this outfit barely shows skin, but it's very sexy still. I started it from this Fall 2017 Saint Laurent dress that I ADORE! I would die to own one in real life someday, not only because of Stardoll, but also because of Charli XCX - she wears that same dress in the cover of Pop2, a mixtape that I hold very close to my heart! It basically shaped my taste in music for the last couple years and, of course, I can't deny that her styling during that era influenced me in fashion a little bit too. Honestly that happens with any female pop star or album that I obsess over. Clearly it happened before. And it will happen again, because it's not like I try to mimic their style, it's just that their work - both visual and sonically - may inspire me enough to build my own. To me, a single song or music video can be truly life-changing.
That's the case with Track10. You should play it right now. Both Charli and I will be glad if you do.
The girl in gloves signing off.
xx
